Artisan Center of Virginia Director Sherri Smith to Speak in Shenandoah County

Topic to be Virginias Developing Artisan Trail Network

Sherri Smith, Executive Director of the Artisan Center of Virginia (ACV) will present a free public program Thursday, April 26, 2012 at The Yellow Barn. The program begins at 7 p.m. The Yellow Barn is located at 261 Caverns Road, Shenandoah Caverns, VA  22847.   Who should attend: artists and artisans, local agriculture producers, lodging and accommodations, restaurants that use locally produced foods, and anyone in the general public interested in learning more.

The about us section of artisancenterofvirginia.org states, As the statewide champions for quality craft, the Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV) supports and promotes the culture of Virginia artisans through education, entrepreneurship, research, galleries and exhibitions. The ACV believes that quality, handmade craft strengthens the cultural, educational and economic vitality of local communities.

The ACV is currently developing a series of Artisan Trail Networks throughout Virginia. 

ACVs Artisan Trail Network offers a unique opportunity to form strategic alliances with artisans, venues, galleries and retailers across the state, while connecting points of interest, restaurants, and accommodation locations in the related communities in order to enhance regional tourism activity. The Artisan Trail Network is an innovative program to leverage ACVs broad-based grassroots membership into a coordinated marketing and outreach campaign to strengthen local communities while strengthening Virginias craft industry.

Shenandoah County is home to the famous Seven Bends of the Shenandoah River and the historic Meems Bottom Covered Bridge. The county is rich in scenic beauty, agriculture, and talented artisans.  Join us in welcoming Sherri Smith of the Virginia Artisan Center, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at The Yellow Barn.
