Plein Air Painting?

I am from out of state, and will be staying in Winchester, Va for a few days next month.  I was looking to get information from local artists about any groups that do outdoor painting.  I do oil painting, and would like to either meet up with a group of artists who are out painting locally, or possibly get information on potential (safe) painting locations if I am on my own.  Is there any one who can advise me?  Thanks.

I have been searching for an open drawing figure study group in the area - Northern I-81 in VA.  I recently learned about 2 groups in the area.  One is led by a Charles Logan (cblogan@hughes.net, 540-636-8714).  They meet on Thursdays, but I was told they may not be meeting in winter months.

I also spoke with someone about a group in Shepherdstown connected with Cooper Gallery.  They meet Friday morning, although I heard they may be focused more now on Abstract work than Plein Air.  The group used to do Plein Air, and there may still be people that do it.

My boyfriend and I are also new to the area, and would be interested in getting a group of people together to go out painting.  We're not scared by cold weather, and both prefer to work in oils.  We're also extremely interested in connecting with local artists that would like to do regular figure or portrait studies - we'd hire a model, and share the costs, etc.  Please contact me if any of these things sound of interest to anyone: lucybird@gmail.com.

Best of luck!

I have begun a networking website open to all plein air artists worldwide and totally free. In the past three weeks since our start, we have grown to 200 artists.  Please take a minute and look at the high level of work we are getting on our site. You can advertise events, workshops, shows and even keep your group as a separate entity. Please check us out and pass this along to your other members so they can all join in. And my appolgies for not contacting you sooner. I don't know what I was thinking.

pleinairartists.ning.com  ... . ... please pass this along to your painting buddies.

90% must be completed on site.
