First Friday's at The Art Group in Mt Jackson Virginia
Friday arts and music is held from 7 P.M. to about 11 P.M. The 1st Friday of every month is going strong and growing with the help of The Town of Mt. Jackson, The Art Group and ShenandoahMusic.com. Both musicians and listeners are enjoying an evening of "art for your eyes and ears." This is a no charge event, and refreshments are available.
"The great thing about First Friday at The Art Group is that you never know what's going to happen except that the music will be good. First Friday on January 6 was no exception. There was jazz, blues, popular tunes, show tunes, country music and who knows what else. There were rarely less than seven performers at a time, but the members kept changing. Doug Arthur on a stand-up base was replaced from time to time by electric bases, the melody went from a Hawaiian steel to an electric piano, guitars were going all the time and the drums never stopped. Con Roper sang every style but seemed most at home with traditional country music. The food and beverages as usual was great and I counted over forty people at one time - not including the players. Mark this on your calendars - First Friday is good fun, good food, great music and all the time you see the outstanding collection of art at The Art Group".- Don Albright
